Tamani

Dar es Salaam

Tanzania

Overview

Tamani represents a different side of Tanzania’s restaurant scene, bringing attention away from the coastal concentration of Dar es Salaam and towards Arusha, the gateway to some of the country’s most celebrated safari destinations. A correction to my earlier city list: Tamani is associated with Arusha rather than Dar es Salaam. It is also among the six restaurants nominated for Tanzania’s Best Restaurant 2026 at the World Culinary Awards, placing it alongside some of the country’s most prominent dining names.

Its appeal lies in offering travellers and local diners a contemporary restaurant experience within one of Tanzania’s most internationally visited cities. Arusha’s dining scene serves an unusually diverse audience — residents, safari travellers, business visitors and an international hospitality community — and restaurants such as Tamani form an important part of the city’s growing culinary identity.

For a Tanzania-wide collection of leading restaurants, Tamani adds valuable geographical diversity. Rather than concentrating the entire list in Dar es Salaam, its inclusion reflects the increasingly sophisticated hospitality and restaurant offering developing around the country’s northern tourism circuit.
